Are his 2 brilliant first crop failing to go on at 3? I don't think that I would want to have a mare in foal to him at a stud fee between 25 - 40K.

So far in 2005, Yes It's True stands 2nd on the Second Crop Sire list with $829,393 in earnings (through 4/29). He has 19 winners from 41 starters, and 2 stakes winners, including B.B. Best who has earned 153K.

He currently has higher earnings for the year than Giant's Causeway, Successful Appeal, Golden Missile, Lemon Drop Kid, War Chant, More Than Ready and Dixie Union, all of whom stand for 25K or higher--some significantly higher.

So I certainly wouldn't say that his 3YOs are failures.

To each his/her own...but I suggest Yes It's True is a bargain (and probably a steal) at $25k live.

LSB has highlighted some of his accomplishments (thus far in 2005). And in addition (if I may) it's clear (at least as far as I'm concerned) that in general he gets some very good looking horses...

...and his future looks bright (to my way of thinking).

I recommend that if you can get to him for $25k...definitely take advantage of it. I believe it's an opportunity that you should not miss.

He's also a grand-looking horse, well-balanced, classy, lots of bone and size. I saw him when he first got to Three Chimneys and was really taken by him.

What he has done thus far is nothing short of excellent, and his horses this year have run real well. I thought he would sire mostly sprinters, but a few of his horses are running well at longer distances. His horses seem pretty durable. I don't know why BB Best and Proud Accolade ran so bad in the Withers, but maybe his horses don't like an off track. Neither had run that bad before, I don't think. We have foal by him that was born in January, and she looks excellent so far. I feel very fortunate to have bred to him last February, before his horses started running like this. Based on how his two year olds in training sold, I'd say he's primed for another good juvenile crop.

chicago78, congratulations on your Yes It's True filly! I didn't get over to see him fast enough when he arrived in Kentucky. Unfortunately by the time I saw him his book was full, otherwise I would have bred to him too.

Possibly an understatemment...I suggest that anything less would be a surprise (and a disappointment)...as far as I'm concerned.

I have read all the comments and believe Yes Its True will be an excellent 2 year old sire. I question what the individuals will do as they turn 3 and 4. If my memory is correct, Is it True did not sire many individuals that improved in class as they grew older. These are just my opinions, and I am not asking anyone else nto adopt them.

Maybe so...but I submit that (to a large degree) Is It True RARELY sired the overall quality of individuals (particulary front-end-wise)...that his son Yes It's True seems to get on a regular basis.

Yes It's True is an outstanding individual...that sires outstanding individuals (usually FAR SUPERIOR to what Is It True has become known for) quite regularly. Yes...Is It True has a powerhouse body, BUT he also possesses a very difficult front end to deal with (that may be an understatement) and unfortunately he passes it on all too often. Regardless...he certainly sired a VERY good (and very correct) one in Yes It's True.

As a result of those (and other) reasons, I expect that Yes It's True's older horses will (in general) outperform the kind of older horses that you might be used to seeing by Is It True.

At this point, I think Successful Appeal is leading Yes Its True. Closing Argument made a loud statement in the Derby. I know that he stands at a less "in" farm in Ky, but I like what his 3 year olds are doing.

I suggest that All Things Considered...Closing Argument's sire Successful Appeal is nothing short of an aberration...and that at $25,000-live some might agree that he's the best buy in North America (or at the very least...one of the best buys).

If you could load up on Successful Appeals and Yes It's Trues...I suggest you'd have one heck of a racing stable.

Problem is that Successful Appeal's first two crops have been small (to say the least)...his first crop numbered approx 37 and his second crop is in the 20 range...ouch.

But WOW...what a sire.
