Flying Baron race record?
Can anyone give me the race record for Flying Baron? I'm interested to know at what level he raced. As a son of Deputy Minister he may have been kept out of claimers. Thanks in advance.
Hi Aurora,
Flying Baron Race Record:
22-4-3-2 $277,285
Translates to a high quality Allowance, low caliber stakes horse (though he has no stakes bracket he probably ran in and got purse money in stakes). I'd imagine that he competed in Canada to amass as much earnings as he did with his record. He didn't race as a 2yo.
I'd be a little wary of the fact that he sold for only $90k when Deputy Minister averaged $488K (he was 30th of 31 sold).
His half brother, Silver Spear, (ro.c. 1988 by Cozzene - Bar U Mood by Saratoga Six) was 37-5-9-4 $313,518 and was placed in two listed stakes.
He has a fine pedigree (2nd dam is Passing Mood), and first dam, Bar U Mood has been bred by Adena Springs for the past several years, (Golden Missile 2yo and Awesome Again yearling on the come).
He has a stallion pedigree, is by a good sire of sires and if he is better made than his sales price would suggest, he might be a good choice for a small breeding farm. Touch Gold and With Approval are both from his immediate family.
Regards,
Pete
