Please let me here your thoughts on his stud fee (advertised). I was figuring 100k.. To be in line with Empire Maker, Smarty, Mineshaft, EQ, and his sire Awesome again(125k). People are making a lot of noise on other boards that it will be at least 200k? Anythoughts from the pros out there please...

$100k - $125k is probably going to be it.
Stronach is a fairly savy businessman for the most part and I doubt he'll price Ghostzapper higher than his own sire. If anything, Awesome Again will see an increase to $150k-$175k and Ghostzapper will come in at $25k-$50k less with the idea that if you can't get to the sire, go to the son.

Sam,
I think you're right that Ghostzapper will come in a under Awesome Again's fee - whatever it is. I'd say $75k. I think his feel will be affected by his 1/2 brother City Zip's success or lack of it. (If City Zip hits I can see $100k). Adena doesn't like to leave money on the table.
I believe the real reason that Ghostzapper's fee will be moderated is that Adena will want to get as many outside mares as possible and they will want to be heavily over subscribed to select the mares that they want. Obviously they'll breed a number of their own to Ghostzapper and insure a large, quality book.
Regards,
Pete

I think Awesome Again is highly overated.I give the horse credit for siring Ghostzapper and Toccett but does anyone read true stats anymore - this horse has sired 39% winners from foals - meaning 6 out of 10 never make it to the winner's circle and now let's go to $175,000 stud fee. It's called remember the early 90's when the market collapsed.............

Is he throwing big-time soundness problems? Toccet had his ankles completely change between 2 and 3, Wilko has had foot issues all season, and Ghostzapper can't string two races in a row without a long rest. The last especially speaks volumes.

Unbridled's Song is the same way. Doesn't stop people from breeding/buying his get.
