Sunday Silence was a great stallion in Japan but what about Saint Ballado as he was the sire of two Grade I stakes winners in a weekend with Saint Liam and Ashado. Both sires will help carry on the Halo sire line.

Yes, and not much was expected of either horse when they initially went to stud. Shows again what a crap shoot each individual stallion is whether they start out at $2,500 or $100,000.

Southern Halo isn't too shabby either. Unfortunately, he had to go to South America before his sire potential was realized. Maybe More Than Ready will carry on his line here.

Actually, he did far better in South America than he did during his stint here. Buckpasser seems to be a key for him, and he saw a lot of mares by Buckpasser's sons Logical and Egg Toss while in Argentina -- did well with them, too, particularly the Logical mares.

Any thoughts on how David Copperfield will do at stud and what kind of mares should help him out?

I suggest that to call Saint Ballado a Great stallion...is unwarranted.

I'd agree FOS.

Saint Ballado was a nice stallion and not overpriced from the vantge point of how well his get sold, but certainly on the basis of their racing ability.

Southern Halo was a flop here in NA other than More Than Ready.

Devil His Due is having a big year and has been a reliable race horse stallion from the Halo line.

Sunday Silence was a phenomenon, but we'll never know what he might have done here since the mare base and type of racing is probably not what he would have had the opportunity to sire for here in NA.

Interesting Sunday Silence is starting to have some representation in the United States as Keep The Faith sets a track record at Belmont.
