Pedigree Query

Has anybody any opinion on this stallion? Claiborne had suggested him for one of my mares and I stuck by my original choice and in the words of the goat herder in Hildalgo "God will tell if I have chosen poorly". I'm not against breeding a turf foal. Any opinions? Anyone? Anyone?

Who is the mare?

I just looked at Stroll's info... any AP Indy horse I wouldn't consider without personally inspecting the stallion -- I may get flamed for my very subjective opinion. I would also ask them if Stroll is a ridgeling like his daddy. If he is a freshman it could be an expensive experience if he has fertility issues.

Stroll is a son of Pulpit, not AP Indy. I wasn't aware that Pulpit was a rig.

Claiborne offered up Stroll for my mare too but I declined. Just look at Awad, a turf horse that won or placed in 30 stakes, stands for $2,500. The US market just isn't too kind on turf horses except for the very top, very well connected ones.

The mare would be Excessive Drive and given the amount of grass in the family it would be a strictly breed to race venture. The foal would be a late foal as well if we bred her next year. The turf part didn't kill me as much as the fact that (a) according to them he was fresh off the track (it was shortly before breeding season), (b) I was not terribly familiar with the broodmare sire, and (c) as previously mentioned I'm not on the sons of Pulpit bandwagon. The thing that caught my eye was the coefficient of inbreeding for the cross which was a paltry 0.65% and of course he is a GrI winner and the mare has some turf breeding (although all her siblings were dirt horses). I am really leaning toward more proven sires with her, but I wondered if anyone had any astounding insights on him I had not yet thought of.
