Mr. Livingston/El Prado - what lines would be the best cross

Postby ruffianlover » Thu Aug 04, 2005 7:47 pm

Looking for advice on a good cross with Mr. Livingston, who is an El Prado son. ALthough Mr. Livingston has not had a foal crop yet, El Prado has an established breeding record. Thanks!

Hi RuffianLover,

Keith's advice is all over the map as usual and many of his ideas (such as Nureyev) are not advisible in my opinion.

Nureyev's grandson Kingmambo or his full brother Miesque's Son might make a lot of sense though even though Nureyev through other sources would be a extremely foolhardy idea. (Note that fully 60% of the GIWs with Sadlers Wells/Nureyev get the Nureyev through Kignmambo and 20% get the Nureyev through Kingmambo's full brother Miesque's Son.)

But the best strains you can look for with mare are probably Lear Fan and/or Gone West.

Lear Fan has shown a liking for El Prado in his BEST foal of either sex: Kitten's Joy. And Gone West has shown an important affinity with El Prado's sire Sadlers Wells in the GIW 2YO and English Derby (GI) Winning 3YO Motivator (very significantly the FIRST GIW for Gone West as a broodmare sire) and he's also shown an important affinity with El Prado's damsire Sir Ivor in the one time Wrold Record Holder for One Mile and 100,000 stallion Elusive Quality and the Multiple European Champion 2YO and 3YO Xaar.

Also, Vaguely Noble (on Mr Livingston's damside) has shown an affinty for No Robbery (who's probably best know now as the damsire of Montbrook).

What does that mean?

"Who's probably best known now as the damsire of Montbrook" means essentially that Montbrook is the strongest source of No Robbery nowadays what with Cat Thief dissapointing so much as a sire.
