FLA Stallions

Postby Derby2004 » Sat Aug 06, 2005 6:43 pm

Florida really has come up with a few good stallions. The ones I am particularly watching are:

Alysweep
Unbridled Time
Read The Footnotes
Graeme Hall
Dance Master
Omega Code

What is everyone elses opinions of these horses for racing and commercial side also? All are affordable.

We have a beautiful filly this year by graeme hall, and we bred to Readc the Footnotes but the mare didn't get in foal, it was a late breeding so we just decided to leave her open

Hi Derby,

Graeme Hall has had a lot of support from the Melnyks. I was outshook on two nice mares by them and several more that I was following were snatched up only to be seen again being bred to Graeme Hall. Dehere turned into a very fine sire and I'd think that Melnyk would give him the support to allow a little time if his youngsters didn't fire at first ask.

Pat Reynolds claimed Alysweep ($75k) for owner Michael Dubb and did, in my opinion, a wonderful job with him. Reynolds never saw this horse as anything but a 6f-8f long sprinter and the excursions past that distance were seem to have been owners prerogative. Alysweep nearly started in the Preakness for the same reason. Alysweep's race profile is very similar to his sire (Precise End).

Dance Master has done well to date but look at the quality of the mares from his first (especially) crops since he would likely have been supported by Padua and they have some exceptional mares.

Read The Footnotes I like quite a lot. Through his sire (Smoke Glacken) and grand sire (Two Punch) there has been consistency in conformation and an improving class of runners. Glacken is better than Two Punch, but both have always been well received at sales. If Smokey stays @$30k, I'd expect a long line at Gainesways door. I'd prefer to see Read The Footnotes @$7,500, but I believe he will have good commercial appeal and the prospects to have his get start fast. He didn't beat the best and he didn't follow up early success but that's kept his fee down. If he's like his sire line, the youngins' should look the part. I will look to play him in his 3rd year, if his foals look as I'd like and I can get a favorable deal.

I'm not as high on Unbridled Time and Omega Code or I don't think that I can add detail at this time. FOS is very high on Omega Code.

Regards,

Pete

I've been salivating over Graeme Hall's chances for several weeks now. Tough competitors on both sides of the family, and I hope his foals sell and race well.

Hi all. There is another son of Dehere that is standing. Soto. But Graeme Halls family is better, he raced more, and to me is better looking. He is a good looking stout animal. Read The Footnotes appears to be on the short end to me. Is he?
