Pedigree Query

My dad and I were discussing stallions and came upon the fact that winning a Triple Crown race hasn't exactly translated to stallion sucess for a lot of horses recently (Lil E Tee, Sea Hero, Strike the Gold , Editor's Note, Hansel, Bet Twice (what happened to him?)) Okay I could keep listing forever, but does anybody have a theory as to why this is? I mean FUPEG is the only recent one I can think of that has done okay and maybe Monarchos (although its a little early to evaluate). Some of them you can mark down to unfashionable breeding, but what about the others?

What about Seattle Slew...you might agree...not bad.

Oh don't get me wrong some of them have been succesful but for every Seattle Slew or Easy Goer there's like five Gato Del Sol's. Also, I was thinking like '80's and up which I forgot to clarify. I mean you can make a case for all three Triple Crown winners in the 1970's as having been solid sires.
