Season auctions and other great deals?
I know in the fall seems to be when all of the racing states offer Stallion Season Auctions. Where are they, how can we see a list of the stallions offered and whos all being offered?

I know of these already: Oklahoma Thoroughbred Assn., Texas Thoroughbred Assn., Iowa, Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota. I'm sure there are many others. Usually I just stumble across the info on ads in the Thoroughbred Times, but am not aware of a full list of season auctions and their times.
If you look at the TOBA website, they have a state network section that has contact info for the chapters, and often links to stallion season auctions, and owner/breeder incentive programs.
Most of the season auctions include local and regional stallions, and some new or existing studs from KY or FL. Most are sold without guarantee, but close observation can find some with live foal guarantees. The Texas Thoroughbred Assn. does a very nice job with theirs each year online, and the vast majority of seasons don't even get a bid. Most starting bids are at 50% usual fee.

I've bought several seasons through these sales. The sale with the best stallions is TCA, Thoroughbred Charities Assn.
I did have a real issue with TCA a couple of years ago as the season I was after was one of their live bid ones. The person on the phone taking my bid at the auction site refused to tell me what the BID price was, he just kept asking for the ASKED price. I asked him repeatedly what the BID was and the *** just kept repeating the ASKED price. I knew this because I could hear the auctioneer in the background. The auction was conducted by F-T so I can't blame inexperience. It was terribly noisy there so that is the only excuse I could allow him. I simply stopped bidding 'cause I didn't want to bid against myself. I did manage to buy another season though.
There was a new auction just last year in Ky called KEEP that had several high class stallions. Most of these sales are in December to January.
