A friend is thinking about breeding to him, for a sport horse baby. Other than what his info. is on the ped. query, I know nothing. Top side has nothing I'm familiar with, but of course I know the Caro influence on the bottom. We like that for event horses. He's in California now.

Ferrari has a truly German pedigree of great quality: he is by the sound and consistent miler Alkalde, second best son on the race-course and at stud by leading sire Königsstuhl (his best son is Monsun). In female tap-root he traces back to Festa, probably the most influential foundation mare in German TB. The sires in his dam-line (Nebos, Luciano) are all important broodmare sires, his dam was placed in 2 G-3-races for 3yo fillies.

Bred by Mr. Schmucker at Hof Heidendom Stud (Federal State Niedersachsen, North Germany) which was in spite of his small size quite successful in Germany in the late 1980ties and early 90ties (f.i. Manzoni – German 2000 Guineas, Martessa – Prix de L’Opera-winner). Ferrari raced from 2 to 4 in 14 races in Germany before being sold to race in the US. He won in any season from 2 to 4. After winning a Derby trial (Radeberger-Preis) he was second favourite for the German Derby 1997 in which he finished a somewhat disappointing ninth (behind internationally known Borgia and Caitano). Before that race as well before his start of the Radeberger-Preis he showed signs of nervous stress (a trait probably inherited by Nebos?!). Stamina doubts after the Derby were rejected after Ferrari’s win of the Gerling-Preis (12 f), the important seasonal debut race for older horses as a 4yo.

I,d thanked Parlo because, I,am living in the Netherlands which is a neigbouring state to germany. I just know something of there breeds
most general, so Iam glad he,s giving accurate information.
Parlo and Bettina are the sources for this kind of things.
If my filly ever becomes sound, we are gooiing to race there in downbottom races, as my trainer is only 6 miles from the border.

Hallo,
yes I know Ferrari, too.

According my notes he raced in Germany from 2 - 4 years with 14 starts, 4 wins and 9 placings. Mostly over distances ranging from 2000 - 2400 meters (10 - 12 furlongs) on turf.

He was later sold to America and was racing in this country. I vaguely remember, some one from another list reported , he was still racing as
8 - 9 year mostly in cheap claiming races. I can asked per e-mail, whether she can provide me with more informations.

Btw, The present owner of Ferrari was so kind to send me a foto of his first offspring. She bred him to one of her mares.

As Parlo stated Ferrari has a devinitely German pedigree. When you go further back his ped, he carries several horses what I call a typical "Waldfried" pedigree. This Stud, nowedefunct, combined their most succesful broodmares in complex In- and linebred patterns. When you look closely you will see Festa (Fam. 16), Angelure (Fam. 7), Grave and Gay (Fam. 11) and Macht (Fam. 31) over and over again.

Especially interesting is Jane Pierney, the dam of Janus, her
Bend Or/Macaroni inbreeding pattern reminding me very much of La Troienne.

Alkalde his Sire is inbred 2 x 4 to the FS/FB Kaiseradler and kaiserkrone and 4 x 4 to Olymp. Opposite to his son Ferrari, Alkalde was a good miler.

Regards, Bettina
