Odds on a quality son of Sunday Silence coming to US?

Postby TomFool » Sat Oct 01, 2005 7:47 pm

I would love to see a quality SS retire or move to the US like say a Keep The Faith. Fusaichi Zenon is the best we have but he is on the West Coast, far from me. Do you guys think there would be a demand for a quality SS in this country as I dont think alot of American breeders would agree with me on this? Thoughts?

if you're going on "pedigree quality" there's really not a better son of SS than the one standing in Florida... AustinPowers. Although he wasnt able to accomplish anything of note on the track, he has one of the best female families around and they throw TOP stallions. Is he worth the chance? Not for my mares or money but might be for a regional breeder who likes the Halo line.

I actually like the Halo line, but I'm doubting we're going to see a really high quality, race proven son of Sunday Silence here in the States given his King Kong aura in Japan and the fact that U.S. breeders didn't think enough of SS to keep him here in the first place.

No breeders were intelligent enough like John Messara (who runs Arrowfield) to send mares over to Japan for breeding. He made a mint at the sales in Australia with his SS offspring.

If breeders here really wanted a quality SS stallion, they would have found a way to get one. Coolmore and Godolphin never got one, that tells you something.
