He has a total of two stakes winners both out of the same mare. The elder one's career is probably on a downhill slide and the filly is very impressive, but $10,000 for a stallion who covered all of 25 mares at $5000 last year and has a lifetime yearling median of $6250? I am so miffed. I wanted to use him this year if he stayed around the same fee. Ah well at 50%+ starters and 30%+ winners I'm probably better off. I mean Grannie's Feather can only have one baby a year.

WW has a very low AEI in the 1.05 area and CI is in the 85 area.

With only 3 crops of RA the jury is still out on WW.

Lets give WW more time to see if he can improve on his stats, 2 more crops will tell the tale.

Difficult to discount your comments re: Wild Wonder...

...BUT...the good news might be that...

...he is now owned by a recently formed partnership (which includes Stonerside) and I expect he'll be given a very good opportunity as a result.

Also, for what it's worth, he seems to be getting a relatively high priced one every now and then...if nothing else, that seems to support the contention that he can get an impressive yearling, that will stand up to scrutiny in a very demanding market. WW's already proven he can get a very good racehorse...and with his G1 winning and BC Juvenile Fillies second place finisher Wild Fit, arguably he has sired a Top one...a potential super-star.

A $10k stud fee for 2006 is arguably a bit steep based on what he's done thus far (a total of two graded stakes-winners and both from the same mare is certainly not to be ignored), but his future as a sire seems to have taken a new and positive direction, at least to the extent that he will probably be better supported and marketed as a result of his new connections.

If you are considering using Wild Wonder...it might be worth your while to contact the standing farm and make them aware of your interest and concerns (particularly as they relate to the announced stud fee for 2006). You never know...you might be offered a concession for any number of reasons...prospective shipping costs and/or board expenses or whatever (who knows, they might just love your mare's breeding and do everything within their power [within reason of course] to get her on the books).

Wild Wonder's an interesting stallion, and a simple call to the farm and conversation with the appropriate party might bear fruit.

The info I had was wrong and he is at $7500 which I am willing to go to especially on stands and nurses terms.
