Footstepsinthesand American Career Short-lived

Turns out Giant's Causeway's undefeated GR I winning son will be making the rounds in Ireland instead of Kentucky "after breeders at Tattersalls expressed disappointment that he would be standing in America" This of course will put him in direct competition with Sharmandal. Frankly, I would like to thank Coolmore for this decision.

hi austique
There goes the spin...I expect there was very little interest in him from North American breeders.
Best to you.

Coolmore must have gotten barely any attention at all here in the US if they were so eager to pull-up and move him
this year. Guess the Americans weren't so excited about paying 30K for a foreign horse who started a total of 3 times (which, irrelevantly, is 1 number less than it would take to make-up The Beatles, think about it

John, Paul, George and...retirement!).
At least the Europeans should be more familiar with him, thus more inclined to spend the money. It's also interesting that they're decreasing the fee just the tiniest bit for the European breeders- why?

hi StrawberryFelidos
You wrote "Guess the Americans weren't so excited about paying 30K for a foreign horse (Footstepsinthesand) who started a total of 3 times..."
Doesn't the saying go...you can fool some of the people some of the time?
In the case of Footstepsinthesand...apparently there were not enough fools to fool.

His fee right now works out to 25K Euros. Maybe Coolmore is hoping that the Euro will rise against the dollar once again, and eventually all those suckers paying the stud fee will actually shell out more than $30K.

Even IF I GOT MONEY, instead of paying for Footstepsinthesand,
I wouldn,t spend a year with my filly

I think he'll be an interesting one. Because he hasn't had a lot of interest won't make him a failure on it's own.
I went to him this year. He was better value than Sharmardal at $25k compared to S at $55k at Darley.
I couldn't understand him going to the US and will be more suited to the UK and Ireland.

Mike, I'm interested that you think FITS is a better value than Shamardahl. Is that based on their respective stud fees (with FITS being 30K less) or do you think he's a better stallion prospect as well?

Footstepsinthesand has 10 crosses of (Phalaris) and Shamardal has 12 crosses of (Phalaris) in their 5 generation pedigrees.
Breeders with mares that have 8 or more crosses of (Phalaris) will follow those stallions down the road to unsoundness.

Just remember that footstepsinthesand went down on a very firm track,
so he couldn,t meet the standards from that kind of view

Hi LSB
I think that FITS is more value. His legs are a little better than Sharmardal also.

I just loved the fake cover ad (which is now useless) on the TTimes mag that states that he was undefeated at 2 and undefeated at 3. HE ONLY STARTED 3 TIMES!!!!!! I am just waiting for the day to come when Coolmore has a horse who won one race, retired, and his ads will say he was undefeated.

Be fair. In that case, what would you expect them to say?

Just wait until they stand a regally bred unraced stallion and they say that he was so good in training they didn't want to embarrass the competition, so they retired him.

BUT.
Are all horses equal on the turf or under it?
