Texas thoroughbred association seasons

Postby henthorn » Mon Nov 28, 2005 5:39 pm

go to www.texasthoroughbred.com to see the list of stallion seasons available for the TTA. Very few bids are shown, and there are several price ranges. Most are at half price for initial bid, and more detail is available for the contracts on each individual. Online auction ends next Wednesday, December 7th.

Available stallions include Skip Away, Out of Place, Truluck, Time Bandit, etc. They are from KY, TX, LA, and perhaps from some other states.

Stallion Auctions

A comment in general on the stallion season auctions, what is the rule of thumb for a NG season if you're buying from the farm? Seems like you can usually purchase a NG for about 40% of the LFSN price. How does it make sense to pay at least 50% for a NG and pay it 4 or 5 months before you might pay it otherwise. Am I just wrong in my thinking about a NG cost from the farm? What on a percentage basis have you or others paid for a NG season? No need to name farms or stallions just the percentages. Thanks

My understanding is that NG seasons are generally 70% for a commercial stallion. A lower percentage might be had if the stallion manager is struggling to fill the book.

Weren't there alot of seasons not sold from last years Texas sale?
