Anyone got any opinions about this horse?

seen him run in the Vosburg G1 just blew the doors off Lion Heart he is really fast say if your breeding for speed he has a good shot rubbing that off in his offspring thats my thoughts probably don't meen much HA HA !

Correction madelyn he blew Lion Tamer doors off If I'm right I think he broke the track record that day for six furlongs I might be wrong . He could run long too I just don't like his sire very well thats just me .

Obviously very fast and versatile, and competed at a high level for a couple of years. I'm not against Conquistador Cielo as a sire of sires, and have always thought Marquetry was useful, (he sired two BC sprint winners,) and Wagon Limit, in a very limited opportunity, has sired Silver Wagon, a real good horse.

Taste of Paradise' broodmare sire, What Luck sired some real speedballs, was a successful quarter horse sire, and has actually been a good broodmare sire. He's inbred to Bold Ruler, as are many successful sires, and he comes from a female line that has produced some good sires including Northern Afleet and Cape Town. I think he has a shot, and think he's priced very fairly. I wish he were standing in Florida, because he would get much more attention down there at $6,000 than he may in Kentucky, but still think he'll get a decent group of mares.

He would have been great to own as a racehorse but as a sire he is not for me. I dont like closing sprinters for one plus he did not start running untill he was 6. He has little to no value from a commerical standpoint. Conquistador Cielo is very iffy & this female family is not the most sire making with the very common regional La sire Wire Me Collect & futher back hit or miss & overated sires Swain & Cape Town.

Did you see his photo on the Thoroughbred Times online stallion directory? What an awful photo. You can tell the owner - not a farm - did the ad.

Don't know about not running until 6. He won a grade 2 at Del Mar at 4, and two graded sprints at 5. At $6,000, he's well priced, and he should get some decent mares, at least in my opinoin.

The photo may have been taken by a pro... the problem is he is so drugged he can barely stand. If they have to juice him like that he must have temperament issues.

at the Breeders Cup he was on his own before the Sprint in the little saddling paddock away from the crowd. But I have seen him race a couple times and didn't see anything crazy happen, and I was there when he sold at Barretts in '03. Don't remember him being majorly nutty then either.

I believe he stopped running at age 6--- not started.

I love to see What Luck on the bottom side of a pedigree. At the risk of repeating myself, he once was (and maybe still is) the only TB sire of both TB and QH running champions. I also love seeing Ruritania on the distaff side. Ruritania was the product of Ribot (through Graustark) and Tourbillon (through Djebel) sire lines and didn't produce many offspring, but he produced some outstanding broodmares including Loose Wire, NY state Champion broodmare in 1996, 1999 and 2005, the dam of CLEVER ELECTRICIAN (USA) by Clever Trick, 33-9-6-7 $470,640 and SCOTTISH MONK by DUNS SCOTUS, 81-28-?-? $688,701, and WIRE ME COLLECT (USA) dkb/br H 1993 by CLEVER TRICK 32-10-6-4 $626,452. Ruritania also sired SATANIA (the stakeswinning dam of UNDERWORLD) in addition to Soprano Miss, the dam of GALWAY SONG, 41-8-4-9 $369,310, SW, GSP, and dam of champion Blizzard. He was probably best known for producing a Canadian Horse of the Year, the gelding FROST KING, 52-26-9-3 $1,033,260.

Taste of Paradise may not be a commercial breeders dream, but with the right mare his pedigree indicates he could be a strong producer, and his distaff side has a history of producing sound talent, as evidenced by the race records above.

I didnt mean he did not start untill 6, I ment he did not get really good untill this year as a 6 year old. Sure he ran some ok races & was pretty consistant but he did he was his career best by a longway in his final couple of starts for whatever reason (maybe he just adored Belmont, I dont know) but he just did not do enough earlier in his racing career to get my attention when you add up other major negatives I believe he has.

In the horse's defense, the conformation photo was probably taken within days of the Breeders' Cup, so one can imagine he was still pretty pumped from the effort, no? Of course, I may be biased, as my mare, Outta Luck, has a little What Luck in her pedigree...lol.

I do feel that if had won the B.C.Sprint......he was much the best in the race.....then he would have had major offers despite being a less than commercial sire line. I personally love the horse from a trainers point of view. Tough, durable and high class he is the type every trainer dreams of.Unless he shows up with sharp two year olds then he will disappear but I feel that he would be a great addition to a state with a strong program like New Mexico or New York.

Zialand....one more producer by Ruritania is my mare's granddam...Winter Charmer. She is the dam of Charming Sassafras. (337,695.) Broodmare of the year in Canada in 1997. Her son, Mt. Sassafras ($1,382,985) was leading Cigar And Alphabet Soup in the stretch in the Breeders Cup. Finished fourth, I think.
