Bestbandintheland to New Mexico!

Postby ZiaLand » Wed Dec 21, 2005 11:01 am

I was holding off waiting for his connections to make this announcement, but since it's now stated in his database info and is being advertised, I guess I'm not stealing anybody's thunder.

This exciting young stallion is a FULL BROTHER to former leading NM sire Chimes Band (also on national leading sire lists), who sadly passed away just this last fall. Bestbandintheland will be standing at Windsor Farms in Lovington, NM (not far from Zia Park in Hobbs) and is making a timely entrance to fill his big brother's shoes for the 2006 breeding season. I haven't seen him in person yet, but I understand his conformation is outstanding and he's a really impressive looking stallion. This could be a prime opportunity for breeders who didn't take mares to Chimes Band at his $5,000 price tag to send them to his younger brother at a much lower introductory fee.

I also understand that Bestbandintheland has a limited crop of 2YOs that could hit the track this year, so his future offspring may have a lot of upside potential if his first crop does well. Add to that the lucrative NM Bred Incentive Program and I think the cards may be stacked well in this guy's favor to be a major success at stud.

Best Wishes Bestbandintheland!

Laura...Yes he is a wonderful stallion. I sold Bestbandintheland to his current connections and can honestly say he is a FINE example of horseflesh. TALK ABOUT Purdy! Oh and that pedigree...too bad hes so far away from me now.

Yes, he does have a very small crop of foals, his first crop are now 2 yr olds.

The Foals of Bestbandintheland that I have seen are correct, good sized and impressive!

BTW for those who are or riding on the popularity of PAINTED or COLORED TB's heres a great looking stallion with ODD and Excessive white and a KILLER pedigree to match his stunning looks!

Yeah, me too. Kind of takes the edge off breeding to an unproven sire when his full brother was proven at stud. And...according to another thread...it's the less successful racehorse of two full brothers who is often the most successful at stud.

Can't wait to see this guy.

Zia...we were equaly excited about this guy...the diamond in the rough you could say...and yes you know what they say about the not so proven runner being the better brother at stud! (if thats the case I'm on the $ with FREUD, RIGHT!?!?)

Bestband is a handsome horse with a gorgeous body and killer looks (damn...sounds better then most of the men I have known) ANYWAY I know his conncetions are currently working on a few print ads to announce his New Mexico arrival. I let his owner know I would be happy to post info on my web site as soon as they get it all compiled. www.horsepowercompany.com for future info as well as the arrival of their new web site ...currently on the drawing board.

Well - I guess I'm a bit slow on this... I own Windsor Farms with my wife. We are very excited to be standing Bestband! He's a great looking horse, about 16.2 hands, and very flashy. He does have white spots here and there and will certainly pass on some interesting markings!

He could run a bit too. In his three year old year he was in the money 8 out of 10 races at the allowance level. Like his brother Chimes Band, I think he'll add a lot of speed to pedigrees which is perfect for the NM program. His female family is outstanding and full of successful sires in addition to Chimes Band. How about Rubiano, Tapit, Relaunch...

We've gotten a late start, so are standing him for $1500. The farm will be rapidly evolving over the next couple years, but we have almost 300 acres of natural grass pasture, a couple beautiful adobe brick barns, and fields from 8 to 60 acres. My mares are in shock coming from little 2 acre fields in CA, and now running as a herd on 50. Actually it's pretty cool!

We also are standing Claudius, who has proven he can produce a classic horse with Hi Teck Man, winner of the WinStar Derby in 2004. He is one of the best looking horses I've ever seen. He has the pedigree to match. Claudius is standing for $2500 - one of the best deals in the state!

So needless to say, we are very excited with the potential from these sires, and the farm itself. Our goal is simple - to prove that quality breeding and quality upbringing with produce quality horses - even in NM!

See you at the Derby's (soon)!

RDS may I ask what happened to your other two sires you had in Ca. and were you able to sell your place in Ca.? I was told you are in between both states right now. If you haven't sold the one in Ca. I hope you do soon and I hope you do well in NM. with your new sires. :)
I try not to listen to the voices in my head.

Thunder - Thanks! :D

Nijinski - Our farm in CA is for sale. Would be nice to get it sold - help the cash flow (mostly going out right now) you know...

We lost Walter Willy due to a brain Hemmorage shortly after the hottest July in recorded history in Sacramento. Very sad - We loved his foals. I don't suppose its a coincidence that Claudius is Willy's "cousin"?

We still have Saintry - he's a wonderfully bred Stallion who never had a chance at stud. He was bred to way too few mares. He's a good teaser, and we'll breed a few mares to him. His foals have seemed to have short speed so maybe NM will work for him. His pedigree say's grass, but as far as I know none of his foals have tried it. I have a couple to race that I'll try on grass and see what happens. If someone breeds a mare to Claudius or Bestbandintheland, they can breed one to Saintry for no stud fee.

We have high hopes for New Mexico. It's nice not having a foot of mud this time of year - although a little rain would be nice right now.

Good luck to everybody! Stay Positive!!
