Lion Heart vs Tale of the Cat

Postby Heidilady » Thu Jan 12, 2006 2:15 am

Can I just get a compare/contrast on the sire and his son as physical specimens, racehorses, current/future sire potential, pedigree etc. Or just whatever comes to mind. And yes I realize half of Lion Heart's pedigree will be the same as TotC's. $50,000 for Tale of the Cat, $30,000 for Lion Heart at last check and yes Tale of the Cat's more proven but beyond that..just wax equine for me.

TOC has done OK down here as a sire of turf sprinters. I dont thing his statistics would be high but he has sired a really nice mare in Glamour Puss.

He stood in NZ originally, then was banished, then returned once he got a couple of good ones on the track.

I had no idea as to why Coolmore would send a dirt running son of TOC to Oz. I did however see him at the parade and must say he is one of the nicest looking young men around. But as we girls know, the nice looking ones don't always make the best mates. Short term yes, but maybe not long term. :)

Interesting that they both seem to have "grass" roots.

Lion Heart is intriguing as an Australian proposition as he is a Tale of the Cat that got over a bit of ground. They are very similarly built if anything Lion Heart has a little more scope. Tale of the Cat has been immensely successful with only a single crop here and as we speek he is averaging well over 100k with his yearlings at the magic millions yearling sales on the gold coast with his first Australian bred yearlings.

I'm a big fan of both stallions and Lion Heart is an awesome, cheap alternative to his sire.

I've got to say that I'm a fan of both stallions. TOTC has done exceptionally well with his one crop from NZ mares and I would expect him to do even better when his Australian bred crop comes along in another 10 or so months time.
