What does anyone think of Hunting Hard as a stallion?

What does anyone think of Hunting Hard as a stallion? Has anyone had any of his babies? I was just wondering as I bought a season to him.

hi Keith

Since you've indicated that you already "bought a season" to Hunting Hard...I certainly wish you the best ...but suggest that he offers little to nothing (as either a racehorse sire or sales sire).

That said...if you intend to breed to him (and you do not reconsider skipping it...and considering other options) I suggest you breed a neat...compact...short-backed...lots-of-bone kind of mare to him. That guarantees nothing with HH, but it might (at least to some extent) reduce the prospects that you'll get a tall...gangly...almost giraffe-like individual.

I cannot recommend Hunting Hard under any conditions...and hope that you don't find yourself in a good-money-after-bad situation.

I guess it's possible that you'll get a good one (or maybe a great one)...but I don't expect so based on what I've seen...OUCH.

Respectfully

Does anyplace on the web have a picture/statistics on Hunting hard (his pedigree by name looked OK but didn't have stats on mares). He does have a lovely looking son at stud (for WBs though).

There's a nice conformation shot and a minimal blurb - including info that he's for sale on a webste given.

Keith, I won't speak to breeding for race or "commercial" market, but if you want to get show hunter types, wow. Put a mare with a bit more bone to him and that has height and scope, and you will have a nice chance at a hunter breeding champion. I happen to like his pedigree for a sporthorse stallion, as well.

In my respectful opinion, of course :D
