I haven't myself had contact with either but I saw this thread and went 'yeah wow I forgot about the old boy.' I don't know if the photos I've seen are doing justice but the pasterns looked a little long, esp in front but like I said, not sure if that was the photo. (I realized after I typed it that this post is kinda verbal diarrhea and probably is all crap for people who know way more than I do about Overbrook stallions and Cape Town in particular so sorry in advance)

A multiple GSW that's gotten Capeside Lady, Bird Town, Southern Africa, and Capejinsky (so that's Eclipse award winning offspring and a few multiple GSWs in his few crops so far) is pretty decent but he's not getting talked about much. People seemed to focus on Bird Town's female family, probably in part due to the Birdstone situation and all that but Cape Town can't just be entirely ignored. In theory he's gotten a big horse albeit a filly and some other names but I guess there's something to it. He's $15,000 (stands and nurses.)

Doesn't seem like Overbrook's exactly huge on lovely conformation or soundness if you look at their sires. And Cape Town's half brother is standing there for even less at $10,000 so really makes you think. Kinda makes me wrinkle my nose that someone knows something I don't so I'd really want an in-person visual from someone or some stats--hey maybe the others are so low compared to Storm Cat cuz he brings home enough bacon for everybody. I have no idea of his percentage runners or mares in foal from cover but I figure there's a problem somewhere or he's really underrated cuz I just don't trust Overbrook. Yearlings are sitting around $41,000 average for a $15,000 fee. I know that was absolutely know help but the point is now you've made me curious.

I worked with yearlings at Overbrook, including Cape Town's first crop. I didn't think they looked bad at all.

if you look at seeking the gold's record, he has sired a lot more star fillies/mares than colts. i think both cape town and petionville are following that same direction right now. perhaps it's the lack of the big derby horse that's holding these guys back in terms of commercial appeal, but i think they're quite nice stallions in that price range... their stats aren't too bad either.
also remember, seeking the gold's fee halved from 250K to 125K after the dubai millennium sizzle faded.

Speaking of Seeking the Gold.. his son Mutakddim is proving to be a really nice sire. In fact I prefer him above all other sons of S the G.

almost forgot about mutakddim... yeah, again, he's another son of seeking the gold that sires better fillies than colts.
