I'm comiling a list of stallions that Seattle Slew is the broodmare sire of. So far I have:

Lemon Drop Kid
Stormin Fever
Oflee Wild
Stormy Atlantic
Cape Town
Cape Canaveral

Can anyone think of others? Thanks!

Add American Chance to the list. It was one of the reasons I bred to him, and luckily, got a filly from his last crop.

That said...of the six horses named on LSB's original list of stallions out of Seattle Slew daughters...Lemon Drop Kid...Stormin Fever...Oflee Wild...Stormy Atlantic...Cape Town...and Cape Canaveral...

...I sense that Lemon Drop Kid might lead that group (of six) as the one most likely to succeed as an important broodmare-sire himself...

...Capetown too might separate himself...as might any (or all) of the others...but Lemon Drop Kid gets my vote (as of right now)...with Capetown in 2nd...

...what do you think?

FOS, you didn't ask me but I have to agree with you that Lemon Drop Kid has every chance of making an excellent broodmare sire. Considering his own wonderful pedigree, not to mention the great mares he has been bred to, I'd be delighted to own a daughter of his. (Aside from that, I still think he's going to make it as a sire. I may be one of the remaining few who hasn't given up...but I'm really hopeful he'll get there.)

By the way, one of the reasons I was interested in Seattle Slew's record is because we just bought a mare by him (see my avatar). She's out of the Private Account mare Silent Account. So I'm quickly boning up on all things Slew.

Seattle Slew has always been a favorite of mine... I'm sure you'll do really well with her!

Am I assuming correctly that it's Street Money (1999, Seattle Slew out of Silent Account by Private Account?

Who (if I might ask) is on your sires-to-consider short list?

LSB...if your a bit of a gambler...and might consider a stallion that was under the radar...and arguably bred to a very ordinary group at the outset of his career at stud...

...but despite that, still came up with an $825k 2-yo in training (that went on to win a G2)...and a filly that was recently sold for $3mil (after winning a G2 then finishing 2nd in the G1-BC Juvenile Fillies)...

...plus the prospects that he'll have another VERY high-priced 2-yo in training in the next couple of months...plus he is just now getting a real opportunity at stud...and you don't might paying a relatively small stud fee ...you might consider Wild Wonder.

And when you consider that Wild Again (sire of Wild Wonder), when bred to a Seattle Slew mare came up with G1-Suburban Handicap winner Offlee Wild...maybe it's something to think about.

There are plenty of interesting stallions out there that on paper should suit your mare...but I sense that Wild Wonder is a still-quite-young stallion on the move...with a very bright future...and he's already proven he can get the right kind...the kind that can command plenty of attention (and serious money) at the sales.

And the icing on the cake is that you'll most likely get a gray...and arguably that's always worth (at the very least) a little something extra.

FOS, I love Wild Again and I would be delighted to breed to a son of his, especially with this mare, but Wild Wonder worries me. He currently has 154 foals of racing age. Subtract from that his 17 new 2YOs and you have 137 horses who have had at least a year to do something on the track.

Out of those 137, Wild Wonder has only two stakes horses, both of them stakes winners, and both out of the same mare. I'd really like to see him produce blacktype winners with other mares before I would feel comfortable using him.

At the moment, our short list for her consists of Limehouse, Smoke Glacken, Consolidator, Saarland, Theatrical (recommended by Pete), Maria's Mon and Action This Day.

Oh, and yes you do have the right mare.
