Opinions on Fastness

Postby btcountess » Mon Jan 23, 2006 10:47 am

Is he through? Too old? He has a great record but doesn't seem to be doing much lately - would like some opinions. Thanks!

Well Countess you have just woken me up from a coma. I love Fastness he was a world class miler on the turf, his pedigree brings all kinds of names to the table. You have Rousillon a wayward monster stabled alongside the brilliant Dancing Brave in the mid 80s, raw speed in all directions on the track.Never Bend and Princequillo , lovely stuff. His dam by the mighty Troy and tracing back to wonderful old French bloodlines in Mieuxce and Vieux Manoir. No wonder he left Gainsway for Pennsylvania , he was never going to get sales 2yr olds.A friend of mine trains his best son in Ontario, a multiple stakes winner on turf and dirt called Le Cinquieme Essai. They get better with age and patience. If you visit the horse please give him a carrot from me. Regards Wilf.

I will give several carrots for you! I have a Black Tie Affair mare and they match quite well - I guess since we aren't looking to sell but want a good runner, that should be the main concern. We'll see - by the way, he's standing in NJ now.

I like Fastness too... Fast City used to be one of my favorite runners.. I even got to stand in the winners circle with him at Keeneland once :)

I would breed to him if my mare crossed well with him..
