He had 48 mares in 2003, 14 in 2004 and only 10 in 2005....not a a very good trend...I assume his most important asset may not be working like it once was...

He may have no problems... it may be the farm has moved on, and abandoned trying to promote him. His produce is uninspiring, even for a regional stallion, with not much over $300K earnings for his best offspring. To be fair, without analyzing his mares there is no way to tell if the opportunities given were good. Auctions are caveat emptor, buyer beware. If someone is considering a breeding stock animal, it would be prudent to have their "equipment" checked before bidding, unless it is a mare already in foal.

I agree with you that he may not have "equipment" problems. I assumed to much by the numbers of mares he covered over the last 3 years. There are a lot of young Carson City stallions in the marketplace right now. Given his age and production record thus far, he may have just fallen out of favor with Sugar Maple Farm and NY breeders.
