Pedigree Query

I cant remember but didnt this guy have some freak thing happen & died while under the knife or something along those lines? I would have thought for sure if he was still alive he would be standing somewhere by now or if alive is he still in training? Thanks

It sounds like the horse you are referring to is Quinton's Gold Rush- he died during surgery to remove a nasal polyp, which resulted in a punctured artery (if I'm recalling correctly- basically he bled to death). Quinton was the guy with the massive white blaze who finished dead last in the '04 Derby (trust me, it was sad to see).
Fire Slam has not died, to my knowledge. Last I remember, he was running in Grade III races last year, he's dropped in class since his 3yo Derby hopeful days. I think he's still around but he's not in my Virtual Stable anymore, so I can't say what he's doing now.

Fire Slam ran on 12/31/05 at Turfway Park in the 50K Holiday cheer stakes. He finished 7th as the heavy favorite in the race.
