Mount McKinley?

Postby SummerLand » Fri Feb 17, 2006 11:19 pm

Can anyone tell me anything about the stallion Mount McKinley?

I know his pedigree is MR. PROSPECTOR x Julie's Jazz, NUREYEV. Other than that, I don't know anything about him.

Can anyone tell me about his race record? His conformation? Post pictures?

Thanks so much! :D

Mount McKinley was raced by Michael Tabor & Mrs John Magnier and trained by Jeremy Noseda.

He was 5/4 favourite when he made a belated debut in a Lingfield 3-y-o maiden in Sept 2000. He finished 7th of 16 and the Racing Post said "Jeremy Noseda was concerned that the ground might be too firm for Mount McKinley, whose rider was not at all hard on him when it was clear he was not going to be involved in the finish".

He was then again favourite when he ran 3 weeks later in an even weaker maiden at Haydock. However, once again he disappointed coming 6th of 7. This time the Racing Post commented: "Mount McKinley is probably of more interest for the longer term. Granted, he looked an ordinary horse under these extreme conditions, but his pedigree, physique and reputation suggest this surely isn't the best he can do. Another run will see him handicapped and he certainly shouldn't be written off".

He was sold for 6,000 guineas at the Newmarket Horses-In-Training Sale that Autumn and that was the last we saw of him in Europe. It would appear that he was sold to race in the US and raced twice, coming second twice. He's now at stud in Florida and a picture can be found at http://www.thefloridahorse.com/stallion ...
