Boston Harbor

I really liked this horse, and thought he had a good chance at stud.
He has not lived up to my expectations. He has a nice pedigree, and was precocious, so I imagine he attracted some nice mares at first.
Any thoughts on him.? Capote was supposed to be really nasty, did he inherit Capote's personality?
He seemed like the ideal stallion, good breeding, and capable of running early.

I know little about Boston Harbor. But, I've been told by someone who handled him that Capote isn't mean, just stupid. He does bite, though. More than just a typical mouthy stallion, that is.

From what I knew when I was at Overbrook, Boston Harbor was mean if you got close enough to him. Although that never stopped me from giving him attention when I was down in the stallion barn. I can't remember him ever trying to hurt me. He was one of my favorite racehorses so I probably wouldn't have cared anyway. His brothers were incredibly sweet boys. River Gambler was probably my favorite out of the ones I knew. The only time I was around Harbor the Gold as a foal and was leading him, he tried to run me into a fence.

Thank you both for your insight into Boston Harbor.
I am glad to hear that he is not a truly nasty horse, although being dumb is sometimes worse.

I got on Boston Harbor when he was a racehorse. Had the strangest action behind, and you really had to work on setting him up to switch leads or he wouldn't get it behind. Possibly some issues that have carried on to foals? He was a sweetheart though and we all loved him.

I got on River Gambler in my last year before coming to Ireland, where is he now? That was the coolest horse and he was massive for a 2-yo.

Oh, and while I'm thinking of it, Harbor Springs had the peculiar gait behind as well.

River Gambler had to have been one of the biggest horses I've seen as a yearling alone! Sadly he was in a training accident and died on track. I saw him in October 01 after the Breeders Cup just once after he left the farm.

Did you get on Coronado Bay? He, River Gambler, Jump Start and Coastal Storm were my favorite colts from that crop at Overbrook. Gold Mine was cute too. Market High was a sweetheart when he was at the farm. He ended up knocking half his teeth upward and had to have his jaw wired the summer before he went into training.

Hello,
Coronado Bay was so beautiful and was one of my regular rides that fall. I always wanted him for a riding horse. And as for Coastal Storm, he was out of my favorite filly Pearl City. I was actually with Pearl for her entire career, in KY,CA, And NY which is no small feat when you work for Wayne. I didn't gallop Jump Start, but got to breeze him. He was class. Hey Thanks for the memories!

Coronado Bay was so cool. I tried to follow him but lost track. What ever happened to him? His buddy at the farm was Fleet Center and I was thrilled to see they had stalls next to each other when they were at the track.

I used to spoil Pearl City at the farm. I was a fan of hers when she was racing. Quick As a Cat looked exactly like her. I used to go in and scratch one with one hand and one with the other. I saw Quick As A Cat two years ago at Monmouth when she was with Pletcher and she still loved to be scratched. I knew Coastal Storm, Quick As A Cat and Tropical Storm and apparently her fourth foal Spring of Pearls already has a foal on the ground. I hope one of her foals turns into a runner. She hasn't had much luck yet.
