what are the pro and cons on luhuk sireing producing mare?

The con in the Northern Hemisphere would probably be the quality of the mares that he saw given he was at a $5000 fee and was not very commercial. Him being sent back South probably won't help alot either; however, he was a super sire in the Southern Hemisphere and if you could find one with a nice female line that looked good, I'd say go for it.

Luhuk did great when mated to mares by Southern Halo.
I don't have any numbers on him, because his foals haven't run here yet and I can't comment on his potency as a broodmare sire. I would guess he didn't get the best of mares here, so with his US foals at least, I would be surprised if he were ever to be considered an outstanding broodmare sire.
I believe stallions, like Forestry, secretariat,etc will make or have made their reputations as great broodmare sires, because they covered such a great book of mares. I don't believe Forestry is anything special as a sire of race horses but his book of mares certainly has been phenomonal. That will account for something down the line. I don't think Luhuk will have the same advantage, at least here in the states.

Brooke, I wouldn't mind having one of his in my barn at all-- I think he is a very good stallion. I am sure he went back to South America because the demand for his services were so great there not because he got banished from the US---just my opinion. One mans trash is another mans treasure. It is difficult to move stallions around unless they come with so much hype that they can get through the first 2-3 breeding seasons without much help. Luhuk will certainly have foaled some nice horses while he was standing in the US. JMHO.
