So, who is going to go after Barbaro as a stud prospect? Do we like those Dynaformer's at stud?

A bit early (I hope) to speculate on stud plans, but Barbaro is free of Northern Dancer other than a remote strain at the sixth generation that is via Nijinsky II. He also has a daughter of the Dancer's sire Nearctic as his fourth dam -- might be a nice outcross sire for mares relatively close up to Nprthern Dancer or inbred to that stallion through sources other than Nijinsky II.

As with all traits that sires are sterotyped as passing, it may be true that a LOT of dynaformers offspring are pills, but it's sure not true of ALL of them.
Has anyone heard specifics about Barbaro's temperment? I didn't view his "nibbles" on the leadpony as aggressive at all. I thought it just looked like a colt being sociable. He was more nuzzling than biting.
(The prior avatar was a 2004 filly, this one's a 2000 mare. )

I have been observing Dynaformer as a dominant stallion for many years.
The answer can be found in his pedigree. D has only 3 crosses of Phalaris and 13 crosses of Non-Phalaris.
This has give D offspring soundness, as those TB stallions with 10-13 crosses of Phalaris are not in the same soundness league with D.
Their are very few stallions today that only carry 3 crosses of Phalaris in their 5 generation pedigree.
Barbaro has inherited D soundness and will have a golden opportunity to sweep the TC.

The NY Times sports has a full color special pictorial of the Derby and Barbaro; before,during and after. One pcture has Matz walking toward Barbaro in the saddling area before he is saddled.
Barbaro is facing out of the saddling cubicle, His neck is straining and is fully extended upward and to his left, his mouth is open,(groom is holding his lead) he is trying to move forward and three people are struggling to hold him back..one on each side,and one in back.
Barbaro doesn't look vicious at all ,but "annoyed" becasue he is being restrained and he looks like he wanted to "greet Matz" and get the show on the road.
Great shots all.

Dynaformer and Brian's Time are very closely related add to that the Derby win it all looks like he will end up in Japan. Consider the fact that Dynaformer is not yet a great sire of sires. Also, Dynaformer is a very good turf stallion it all points to Japan. For him to stay in the Western hemisphere(USA or Europe) either Coolmore or Darley have got to be interested. Winning the Derby is not that big a deal when it comes to stallion prospects.
