Baron de Vaux to Texas/Dormello II Stud

FYI, looking for a stallion pedigree offering tons of old European bloodline influences/stamina for the classic distances and beyond close up:

Baron de Vaux, the third-place finisher in the 1990 Belmont Stakes (G1), has been purchased by Brian Wallis and will stand at Wallis' Dormello II Stud near Decatur, Texas. The 19-year-old son of Val de l’Orne (Fr) out of the stakes-winning King’s Bishop mare Chasuble will be offered for a $500 stud fee.

From 59 career starts over seven years of racing, Baron de Vaux scored 10 wins and earned $884,375. He won four stakes – two on the dirt and two on the turf – and placed in 11 others including the Haskell Invitational Handicap (G1) and Molson Export Million (G2). He finished behind Go and Go (Ire) and Thirty Six Red in the Belmont. Baron de Vaux was bred in Maryland by the late Bayard Sharp, the father-in-law of William S. Farish III.

“He was bred to cross with Northern Dancer blood, which we have no shortage of down here,” said Wallis. “He’ll also go well with Ribot mares.”

From eight crops of racing age, Baron de Vaux, who previously stood in British Columbia, has sired the earners of nearly $1.1 million including multiple stakes winner Lady’s Jewel.

I happen to own a couple of Baron De Vaux's and I quite like his offspring. The majority of his babies really never got a chance to perform to their highest level as the farm where he stood bred him to almost all their mares and didnt put their runners in a position to win.He's 19 but i think he could be a nice sire for Texas as I thought the majority of his runners could take to the turf but not many have tried it. For 500 bucks i thinnk he is a good deal.He stood for $1500 up here.

Hey Ryeno - Glad to hear from you and glad to know he's got a fan in the north country. Have you raced your Baron de Vaux offspring yet? Can you provide their names? There's a lot to like in his pedigree if you believe in inbreeding to superior female lines...and how many stallions of this sireline tracing tail male to Brantome can one find today?

On a side note, after B.C. experiencing August down here is going to convince the poor 'Baron' that he's been sent to purgatory! (and without slots to help our purse structure stay competitive it may becopme TB racing's version of that.)

Bull Dog generally likes more Bull Dog. Boston Harbor, if memory serves, was 6x6x6 Bull Dog. Known to add early maturity to foals.

The two Baron De Vaux's I have are named Personal Services (6 year old mare) and Gold Valley ( 3 yo gelding).I claimed Personal Services last year and raced her three times and had a 1st, 2nd and a 5th. I purchased Gold Valley this spring but unfortunately he got pnuemonia and almost died.He is currently doing very well at the farm and my vet is going to scope him at the end of the month to see if there is any long term damage to his lungs.I think hes got loads of talent so im hoping he will be alright.
