Texas stallion Littleexpectations sires first winner

Freshman sire Littleexpectations recorded his first winner on May 7 when Texas-bred To Vane prevailed in a $10,200 maiden optional claiming race at Turf Paradise. Bred by Glory Days Breeding and owned by Val-U-Chem Inc. and Vance Grubb, To Vane covered 4 1/2 furlongs in :51.67. The 2-year-old gelding sold for $8,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale and is the first foal out of Live Wire Lil, a stakes-winning daughter of Geiger Counter.
Littleexpectations, a full brother to perennial leading Texas sire Valid Expectations, stands for $3,500 at Drs. Ken and Linda Quirk's Q6 Ranch near Salado. The 9-year-old won six of 17 career starts, including two stakes, and banked $205,480 in his career. Littleexpectations had a perfect juvenile campaign with four wins in as many starts, and as a 3-year-old he finished third in the Lafayette Stakes (G3) at Keeneland. His first crop of runners comprises 40 2-year-olds.
Exciting Story, stood at Lane’s End Texas, gets first winner

Grade 1 winner and Canadian champion Exciting Story, who stood at Lane’s End Texas until his death in 2004, was represented by his first winner on May 11 when Illinois-bred Holly Torque Tango won a $45,000 maiden special weight race at Hollywood Park. The 2-year-old filly covered 4 ½ furlongs in :51.47 and drew away by 5 ½ lengths at the wire.
A son of Diablo, Exciting Story earned $911,270 in his career before entering stud in 2003. He covered 39 mares in his first season and a limited book the following year before being euthanized due to a degenerating joint condition.
Touch Tone scores first winner at Lone Star Park

Touch Tone, a Grade 1-placed multiple stakes winner standing at JEH Stallion Station near Pilot Point, Texas, recorded his first winner on May 12 as Texas-bred Unload broke his maiden against $25,000 claiming company at Lone Star Park. The 2-year-old gelding was bred and owned by Tom Durant, who also campaigned and stands Touch Tone.
An earner of $632,850, Touch Tone won the Iowa Derby and Alysheba Breeders’ Cup Stakes and perhaps ran his best race in defeat when he finished second beaten a half-length by Point Given in the $1.5 million Haskell Invitational Handicap (G1). The now 9-year-old son of Pick Up the Phone also placed in the Pennsylvania Derby (G3) to Macho Uno and the Phoenix Breeders’ Cup Stakes (G3) behind Xtra Heat. Touch Tone stands for $1,500.
