DO THEY EVEN MAKE PINK HAIR DYE? I'm sure they do - I'll ask my hairdresser.....think it will bother her eyes - probably should leave the white alone right? Hey - the pink will match the red eye she has all the time - IS THIS NORMAL FOR GREYS - honest to goodness she rolls her eyes or looks at you sideways and the there is alot of red in them .... looks like the devil has possessed her :)

Don't have any recent ones but I will get one up for you as soon as I can! In fact, I thought about posting the mare's pictures with their foals. McCaskill did not have a foal this year as she didn't take - she is going to Suave this year though. It is a small world. Our consignor had one of her daughers - so that is a small world as well!

Consignor was here today to look at the Tapit filly and really liked her! Thinks we should send her to KY to let a farm specializing in yearlings work with her so we'll probably do that. She needs to be with horses her age anyhow instead of with the big fat broodmares. We were going to send her to a friend's farm here close by anyhow once the weather breaks - need to make room for the moms and babies.

Okay - the filly from hell (McTapit) was picked up this week for her trip to KY to get looked at by a few specialists. Yep, they thought she needed special shoes, nope she doesn't need any surgery - good news - yippee!

Loading her was awful!!! She has been loaded and moved numerous times howeer it took no less than four of us to load that little brat this week. She would not get on the trailer. I went and got some ace thinking we would need to tranq her and damn if I didn't stick myself if the thumb with the needle - how much ace can a human withstand anyhow? So - we're pushing, pulling, shoving an inch at a time - after a half hour we finally got her on. I was freaking exhausted!

The folks in KY (at the boarding farm and the farrier, vets, etc...) all really liked her (or so THEY say) - and the consignor thinks she will be good to go in September so we will keep our fingers crossed.

Thank god someone else will have to load her to bring her back to OH in a few months (HA).... Then of course - we'll have to load her to get her back there for the September sale but hopefully by then she'll have straightened out some.

McTapit thinking - "not another picture please"

I do love Tapit. Many breeders didnt think he was fast enough, but his pedigree is set up perfectly to sire some serious horses. We sold a great weanling by him in November.

She looks good. Should sell well. People are starting to catch on with him. Good luck!

Thanks for the comments guys!

Roque - perhaps it was the ACE (ha) - I really did want to take a nap after the ordeal but I was pretty sure only a few drops probably got in me if that  A syringe full didn't phase her!

Unfortunately the really funny (and embarrassing ones) I don't tell - I certainly don't want us to come across as too big of idiots

Ace won't touch a horse who is already upset. It fact it can make them worse. Also, it heightens the kick reflex in a lot of horses. It is yellow in the syringe. I always think "yellow for use with caution"

Oh I'm sure "we" all do it ,I just haven't seen too many of "us" posting it all over here for everyone to read

Like the time hubby and barn helper were leading the colts and mares out to the paddock and they didn't get the gate closed in time - and ALL OF THEM GOT LOOSE! Thankfully everything was fenced in so there was no where they could go but the colts and mares were sure excited - they were experiencing things they hadn't seen before - hubby who is never really sure about them was hiding behind the water tank while me and barn buddy were trying to catch them :) Or each time hubby led the Birdstone colt out it was like the colt knew hubby held a special place in his heart - so he'd run him out to the paddock - he always walked with me or the barn buddy - but hubby he'd run and then try and run him into the tree - so you'd hear my husband laughing all the way as he was being drug and the Birdstone colt farting all the way to the paddock!

Right after we got Laird's Honor (whom I thought was going to be a mare I could love on and make a "pet" out of - and whom we later found out was loaded on a trailer with a cattle prod) - showed me the black beauty pose on more than one occasion - stupid me never let me go of the shank just got real close-up looks at her belly

OR when we first got the mares we would only brush them as far as we could reach them THROUGH the stall door :)

Thank goodness for us we've gotten so much better and more at ease. Knowledge (to some degree) is heaven.

I was smart enough that when the filly wouldn't go into the stall one time to flip her ass around and back her in. She didn't know what hit her - however that trick only worked once (HA).

Our vet and farrier have been a godsend to us :) They have showed us many little secrets and gave us helpful suggestions along the way. We've shared many, many good laughs over the past few years! In fact, the farrier (who was helping load the filly from hell last week) joked with my hubby and said he was doing so well walking her around that he should work the sales - which totally cracked us all up! When the farrier is there and hubby is home he's the "tool" man :) I keep reminding him that the farrier works all day long without someone handing him tools but he says he really needs a tool man at our place :)

So go ahead guys - laugh at our expense. We've got four (hopefully five) foals coming soon - I'm sure there will be many more stories at our house that have left us laughing so hard at ourselves that our sides hurt.

So come on guys - tell some of yours :)
