My vet tells me many of the yound Warmblood fillies he sees that are imported for the sporthorse market have had a foal or two before they were sent to the US. Perhaps our Euro contributers could comment on this practice.

Madelyn- I was fortunate that River's Prayer out of Cozzy sold for $1.5 million at Keeneland. The other mare has a graded stakes placed filly and is a half to Mr Greeley. Hopefully, they will justify Awesome Again and El Prado.

Well that IS lucky! Of course you could go back to Devon Lane for a repeat... :) I imagine a cash flow boost that size could create a tax panic attack. I hope someday I will get to feel that rush.

No tax panic! Unfortunately, I did not sell the big horse. I have to keep working like everyone else.... and keep dreaming.

I bred my 3yo last year. She had a filly for me in March. She missed when bred back on her 28-day-heat, then took on the following one (end of April). She died of peritonitis in June and the vet said she could've torn something foaling and as the new foal started to develop, it exacerbated the problem.

So I wouldn't breed a 3yo again.
