PA Sale Sept. 10th

Postby HiddenEchoFarm » Mon Sep 18, 2006 7:26 pm

Belated congratulations to the folks who put on the PA sale 9/10 in Shartlesville, PA. I'm hoping you do it, again.

While there were lots of lookers & relatively few buyers, the auctioneers tried hard to get the best price for ALL the sellers [and I'm painfully aware of other sales where that doesn't happen]. As a buyer, I was thinking, "JUST SELL ME THE DAMN MARE!", but as a prospective seller, I appreciated their efforts on each & every horse. They really saw the "sell" in every horse & tried [sometimes without success in this crowd] to give potential buyers reason to bid.

We bought a Cape Town mare in foal to a Dixieland Band son & a Lord Avie mare in foal to Duckhorn, which is an A++ / 7,443% Werk nick with 7 quality points [and whether you believe in them or not -- it's certainly going to work in favor of marketing the foal].

For the 2 mares & 2 prospective foals -- we spent $5,600. [I've figured if both foals are at a $1,500 advertised stud fee, that averages out to a stud fee for each foal plus $100 for each mare.]

In fact, rumor has it the folks who put on this sale might have another sale later in the year & I'm very enthusiastic -- as a buyer AND a seller. [I've suddenly got a surplus of horses & therefore have for sale a Seattle Slew granddaughter who can be bred to our stallion, who will bring a full sister to Seattle Slew's grandfather, Boldnesian, to the foal's bloodlines for a Rasmussen factor foal.]

I'm not affiliated with the sales company in any way. BUT if you're a trainer -- or buying to resell -- there were some nice horses going cheap [$500 to $1,000] at this sale. If you're anywhere near Pennsylvania when they do another sale, you might want to come to the sale with a trailer.
