The mare is a half sister to Charismatic, Tossofthecoin and Millenium Wind. She was born in 1988, and raced until she was 4 (1992).
She only has a '05 colt in her record.
What was she doing all those years?

Likey someone's riding horse. Someone played sleuth and found her.
I've done exactly that several times searching for bargains. The only problem is that sometimes their owners are so emotionally attached to these mars they are simply unwilling to discuss selling them. There's a teenage girl near me who who owns an 11 year old mare whose half sister is a Grade 1 SW of over $1million, placed in the Breeders Cup Distaff, but she turns teary eyed at the mention of "losing her." I'm hoping she forgets about horses once she discovers boys.

My favorite along those lines is Burnoose (1990). She is by Halo and her dam is a full sister to Dixieland Band. Imagine Halo ex Dixieland Band. She was for sale in Tennessee last year in foal to Code Talker for about 5K. How she wound up there bred to Code Talker I can only guess. Had thoughts about her but didn't act. She's still out there.

Maybe having non-TB foals? I've seen those type mares in sales before.

That is the dam reason I do a little research into friends "Riding Horses".. I'm not ashamed to say I'd "Take them off their hands.." for some insanly low amount, and flip them! I'm sneaky like that.

I kind of remember this mare. She was advertised in the back of the Bloodhorse as part of a farm auction dispersal back in 2003 or so in foal to a quarter horse or paint/quarter horse. I want to say the farm was in Ok or Tenn or someplace like that. From what I heard, Vessels bought her with a partner for $80K. Didn't confirm it, but that makes sense since Vessels could run the quarter horse and breed her back to their thoroughbred stallions.
I was thinking about this mare the other day and wondering how it turned out for Vessels. Thanks for pointing her out.

What I remember she was used for pleasure horse breeding and an Ohio Paint Horse breeder bought her for $1500, then Charismatic won the Derby and he realized that was her half-brother. They sold her at an Oklahoma AQHA/APHA auction in foal to a Paint/TB stallion for $80,000.

hpkingjr: Burnoose is still out there and her owner may or may not part with her. She has discussed breeding her to my stallion in '07. She's a very sweet looking mare. I have her contact if you would be interested. I believe she is bred for an '07 foal, but I am not sure to whom.
