I did a double take on this mare's pedigree.. look at her page and then look at my mare Miss Ballet, who is younger, but are they partial siblings??
Anyhow, I wonder what Karen S. will sell for?

KEEJAN Hip #26 - What will she bring?
So Run for the Roses, as fast as you can.....
Okay... must admit, I cannot sleep and am bored... thus all the posts...
anyway...
Madelyn, I don't know how much she'll bring, but I am tempted to drive to Lex and bid her up to the grand total of $1,100, just to make sure you don't have another "accident".
Actually, I do find it interesting that even with the use of Selari and Break Up the Game... the owner of your mare came back to Kris S. like with hip #26. It looks as though your mares third and fourth dams were used to support a "home" stallion... and the close duplication of Prince John makes me think of Elmendorf. Of course, if I would bother to research any of the critters involved, I could probably prove myself wrong.
I wouldn't say they were siblings, but they are cousins.
I do think hip #26 is very aggressively placed in the catalog, (my compliments to the consignor), she is 13, foals have done little, only won 1 time herself... all negatives at Keeneland. However, she is a full to an impressive horse... her price... could be anything... from slightly less than stud fee to barely 6 figures. She is one that is going to be dependent upon WHO gets on her. Of course, if there is an ice storm, and a couple "outs" in front of her, she could go through in the first 1/2 hour, and no one will be there to bid on her... Madelyn, do I need to make the drive as an intervention?...

I wouldn't know how to "quantify" the relationship. Aunt? Eighth-sister? I am also surprised at the catalog placement (first book). But if you have one in this family (and a Moscow Ballet to boot - a fabulous BMS) do you really want another?
I am avoiding these (KEEJAN and OBSJAN) like the plague because I think there will be lots of "bargains" and I could see myself coming home with 5 more. My initial overall guess is that they will show an indication of softness.

I wasn't looking at her acquisitively, just inquisitively.
My Moscow Ballet mare was got for next to nothing in a swap deal a couple of years ago before her immediate family "did" anything (her half Merry Krisoke had the one good runner at that time). It would be nice to see #26 bring even five figures, since she is SO similar. They share Bright Merry, Northern Dancer AND Kris S...
I'm just a bit taken aback that this mare is in foal to Lion Heart ($25K), I don't really think she is a $75K mare.

Madelyn - if she is due to foal this year with a Lion Heart it was a $30,000 stud fee - they just dropped him to $25,000 this breeding season. For your mare - hope she brings a ton! Will I be seeing you at the sales?
