It's the bottom line that sold that colt. If he wins a graded race, he's an instant multi-million stallion. He did look real good though. Did not look like the typical Dynaformer at ALL.

That statement is so illogical, Maven. When I look at a Dynaformer, I WANT something that looks like Barbaro, Perfect Drift, Dynever, or Film Maker. I don't want a high assed, straightlegged, offset blimp that'll break down after three starts.

Whatever makes you feel better, Rok. The colt was a half to a known proven stallion out of a hugely successful Claiborne family and the colt did NOT look like your typical Dynafomer. They tend to be plain and coarse, and this colt was everything BUT. I really liked the way he looked and moved.

Plain and coarse is a bad trait, huh? How many Phipps champions were plain and coarse? Or Rokeby champions?

I tend to look for traits in an offspring that have worked before with a sire line. The fact that this Dynaformer doesn't look like any of the prior successful Dynaformers, to me, is a knock against him.

Who said he's a negative? Let's also not bring in "classic producing stallions" when you guys bash Storm Cat every chance you get and he's also a "classic producing stallion".

Dynaformer is a great stallion. But a big majority of them are down right plain and ugly. Does it mean they cant run? No. Does it mean they sell poorly? Yes.

let's not go there maven. I'm not roke. I never said Storm Cat wasn't a classic producing stallion. Giant's Causeway, CAt Theif, Bluegrass Cat (who I think is his heir apparent) and countless others would say otherwise


I literarly just want to know.. what is the downside to Dynaformer? is his offspring late developing like plesant Tap? I mean his stud fee is 200k.. I'd think he'd be as commercial as commercial could possibly be.

I wonder what Barbaro would have fetched in the sales. I remember looking at him in the documentry as a yearling.. wasn't the prettiest cup of water on earth I'll give you that

Dynaformer is 150k and you can get him for 100k or less with the right mare.

Again, they tend to be plain and late developing. Even though he's had success with them on dirt, he's still looked upon as a turf stallion, and probably rightfully so. His average horse is usually a turf horse.

I think he will be a successful broodmare sire, but I'm not sure we'll see a son take over his thrown, not that there's been many to try.

He's essentially the rich man's Pleasant Tap... better across the board than Pleasant Tap, but the fee shows that.

His three best sons (Barbaro, Dynever, and Perfect Drift) were ALL dirt horses. Dynaformer's rep is based solely on him being by Roberto...to say "rightfully so" that he's classified as a turf stallion is nothing more than market sheep mentality.

During his racing career, Dynaformer made only 8% of his earnings on the turf...was he a turf horse???

Let's look at Giant's Causeway, After Market, and Seeking The Dia - is Storm Cat a "turf stallion, and probably rightfully so?"
