Fasig-Tipton Kentucky November mixed sale

Postby bdw0617 » Wed Oct 03, 2007 7:25 pm

the reason I posted this is becasuse I guess because I really just started to pay attention to sales, I haven't seen anything like this before.

West Point is selling Irish Smoke and Lears princess in the sale.

I can kinda understand lears princess..she's 3. grade 1.. but irish smoke?

West Point if I am not mistaken.. I might very well be, were the original owners of any given saturday and sold him for 1 and a half million very early this year before the wood memorial back to winstar farms.

No different than Zayat selling Point Ashley. You strike while the iron is hot. I'm sure they have reason to believe she may not train on and if that's the case, her value will never be greater than it is right now.

Point Ashley was done racing before they decided to sell her. I'm not sure that's the case with the others.

Well I know they are waaaaay out of my monetary range! The mixed sales will be very interesting. They might give us some clue as to what the market will be like next year.

I think both fillies will go in the Breeders Cup so a good showing by any one of them and there value goes up some more..

Didn't she sell as a Racing/Broodmare Prospect (I don't remember)? Which means there was a vet that at least ok'd her as racing sound.

And by "train on", I mean they may think she wouldn't be a G1 horse at 3 or older.

I'm not sure what vet would say she could race again, but he would not have sold her if she was sound. I have it as close to the source as possible that said she was done before the decision was made to enter her in the sale.

I don't doubt your sources and I'm sure what you heard is true.

But I believe if the horse is listed as a "Racing or Broodmare Prospect" it's because there's some "racing sound" vet certificate available. I could be wrong and mixing up terms but for some reason, I think that's what someone told me last year at a sale.

Again could be wrong on the wordage.

Maven, I believe if a mare is listed as a Racing or Broodmare Prospect, she has to have x-rays in the respository--though not necessarily good ones. No guarantee of racing soundness, just enough information available to let the buyer decide for himself.

Broodmares prospects need a certificate of Breeding Soundness--so they are somewhat guaranteed, insofar as that's possible.

That must be what it was. I knew something came along with the "racing prospect" title.

Thanks for clearing that up, LB.
