You'd think that a curlin half sister by Saint Liam would be a hot ticket right about now..WRONG.

HIP (#558), curlin's half sister, RNA'ed at $600k!!!

You mean to tell me that curln's half sister, but a hot first year sire, and not only that, she is one of about 50 foals that you will ever see by Saint Liam because he died, half sister to Curlin can't pull in $600k? that's kinda sad.

I would've taken the $600,000 for that filly and run. She's OK, but nothing special. She's very Saint Liam, which is good and bad. She has some nice qualities, a powerful looking rear end, a good mind and moves well, carries herself well. I was impressed with how calm and businesslike she was first thing in the morning when I saw her. In other words, she wasn't tired yet from a long day of being shown and she still behaved like a pro. But she is over at the knee, doesn't have a lot of shoulder (doesn't fit well with the large booty) and she's on the light-boned side like Saint Liam. I'd be interested to see her as a yearling, if she goes through the Sept. sale or something. With some prep, maybe they could get her muscled more in the right places. Overall, I was not that impressed with any of the Saint Liams I saw. And I really wanted to like them.

Actually Curlin had a huge impact on the value of the Saint Liam filly.

Were it not for Curlin that filly probably would have been in book 3 or book 4 of this sale and she probably would have sold or RNA'd for $60,000 (and that's being generous as I saw the filly and really didn't like her at all).

Instead she RNA'd for $600,000 so Curlin increased her value tenfold.

Overall the Saint Liam's weren't particulary hot. They weren't a physically impressive group, and I think most people had reservations about betting on a son of Saint Ballado standing for $50k to be the next big thing anyway, and then I think most people consider the fact that they're his only crop a negative as his lack of numbers almost ensures he will never be remembered as a successful sire years from now (even though it's not his fault).
