I think the sales market found some footing last month @ the Timonium sale. I thought the numbers were pretty solid. Coincides with the equity and commodity markets improving substantially since last fall.

Looking at the Illinois yearlings....I kept seeing Illinois bred even though the sire was from another state...now I am confused I thought Illinois bred meant only Illinois stallion and Illinois foaled meant Dam was located in Illinois??? can someone clarify this for me thankyou

Illinois stallions, like Indiana stallions, are only a part of the picture when it comes to state bred rules:
http://www.itbof.org/Other.html

If you look at the Itbof home page, you will see that nearly ALL of the horses who were Illinois champions are by non-Illinois stallions.

Your confusion might be between Illinois-bred and Illinois-sired.

If anyone happens to go to the July sale can you please pm me or post something regarding the Bernardinis in the catalog if you have a chance? I haven't seen any of them in person and we have a mare in foal to him that we have high hopes for.

Thanks!

I might try to go.. anyone want to guess what hip #310 will sell for?

That's a good question. Better question is why this sale? Obviously, the pedigree suggests a more "Select" sale.

Maybe .. on the other hand the upset price for this sale is $10K, unlike Keeneland and FT-Oct, where it is $1K.

If hip #186 looks the part, he may get some interest from the buyers.

Yum. Sale looks like a good one. I am heading over on Monday - and as an added bonus, the new arena & facilities built for the World Equestrian Games are finished and open. There is a reining event open to the public (free) so I plan to slide by and check it all out also.

So if any pqer's have any "must own" yearlings in the book, I will be there to bid for you if you need me.

I'm going to be there Monday Madelyn so perhaps I'll see you there. Here's hoping mine does does better than the last one I had up for sale  Course hubby was always partial to Tallulah so don't think he's too sorry about that (lol)

My wife and I are going to the sale Monday and Tuesday just to see what these yearlings look like and see the desirable pedigrees. Sometimes these horses end up in the claiming races, and they can be watched as they move through the system (yearling, two yr. old, maidens). We just beat some KEESEP 2006 90K horse that was favored in a 5K CLM, and there was a few in the race that a lot of money was spent to be racing in claiming company, but they all cannot be allowance and stakes horses. I am looking forward to having a relaxing time.
