I had heard somewhere that they were going to be naming him Shorty Jones.

He didn't look like much last year at the F-T July sale.

You've asked an unanswerable question--or at least it seems that way to me. Because I have seen him in person and I can't ignore his looks. To tell you the truth, I have no idea what someone might pay if they decided to bid without seeing him first.

Wasn't this the extremely crooked guy? I remember seeing pictures of him at Final Turn Gallery... hmmm. Wonder if I can find those again...

smarty jones 1/2 sister

Postby tammysinnett » Thu Jun 01, 2006 8:08 am

We just bred our stallion to a Smarty Jones half sister......she was very small..but all the horses in the barn hated her. My stallion would only breed her in the dark  I couldn't believe it she was nothing to look at but they say she was fast on the track and her attitude ....boy did she have one!!! Like she could take care of anyone anytime. so we will see what she brings into the world...hope its something fast and pretty to look at.....

Tammysinnett,

Smarty Jones has 4 siblings thus far: Be Happy My Love, Sippin' Bourbon, Speedy Jones(who just sold for 120k)and a unnamed Elusive Quality weanling filly that was born in Ireland in 2005...

Unless you own Be Happy My Love or the unnamed weanling filly, you dont have a Smarty Jones half sister or full sister...

If you have a Elusive Quality filly technically that is not considered "a Smarty Jones half sister"....

If you do own Be Happy My Love you should bred her to EQ and put her in the Keeneland sale so you can strike while the fire is still hot on this family...

half sister

Postby tammysinnett » Thu Jun 01, 2006 10:54 pm

That is what I was always told with the breeding to...that only related through the mare, but she was advertised as a half..and my client insist she is related.. but she is an Elusive Quality mare like you suspected. They say Smarty was a little boy, and not much to look at...so maybe the sire does have a little influence on the similarities??? Thankyou though for correcting me, I didn't mean to mislead anyone.
