Try equine gelatin from Great Lakes Gelatin.. Costs about 80 cents a day and horses love it. You can see the gelatin line coming down the hoof.

You say you are feeding no grain, what are you feeding besides hay to keep weight on your mare?

She is not losing weight, she gets all hay and hay pellets. When I fed her grain she was skinny, I cut out the grain and fed pellets instead and she gained. I'm not saying this will work for every horse- I may be lucky, but its one of the things she has taught me works better for her. I don't think it has anything to do with her hooves.
