Believe me, my eyes see brown every time I close them!!!

Poor girl sees me coming with the syringe and she tries to hide. I don't think she likes me anymore :P

So now the filly is getting jello, poop cocktail 2X/day small amount of grain and probiotics.
Everything should be getting back to normal right????

Well for half the day it is (24hrs being a day) She gets firm in the overnight hours, I don't mean 100% firm but at least there is formation happening. When I check on her in the morning and her area I see where she had gone poop overnight and it looks so much better.

Bring on the daylight hours..... she is back to being runny again.

Only difference is the temperature has been dropping below zero here at night, the ground is freezing on top.

Although when it got colder a couple of weeks ago there was no difference in poop. runny as could be.

It is not because her poop is freezing before I see it as I have seen her poop in the early morning and it was firm.

This girl is one for veternairy science.

any ideas as to why this is happening. Maybe it is because she gets her grain durng the day, but then again she is runny before she gets her grain.
She has free choice hay.

Is there a place that I can find out more info on the giarida? might be able to convince the vet if I could tell her what it is, and no I really don't expect them to know what it is as I am done assuming that they know "everything"

What about gastric ulcers? with everything that has gone on inside her
Lawsonia
antibiotic treatment
stress from being sick
tapeworms
dehydration
diarreha
not enough food staying inside her and major acid build up
I know I treated her but I may not have done it long enough to get a result.
My vet believes that with this much diarreha there shold be colic and blood in feces if she had ulcers.

It is actually spelled "giardia" and your vet SHOULD know what it is. However, with the antibiotics you've already gone through I think that is not the most likely suspect.

I had mentioned metronidazole before. That is what my girl would get. I would imagine she may have ulcers. Omeprazole for that! but Holy sh!@* it is expensive. over $200 a bottle. But I am sure by this point you would spend anything!!! Good luck.

I am going to discuss the metronidazole with my vet.

I have been faithfully doing the poop cocktail (good thing I don't have close neighbors) and she has been getting the omegaalpha biotic 8 now for a week.

I have seen some change in the consistency of the poop but then it goes back to being runny so I don't know if I am fighting a losing battle.

How long should O continue the poop cocktail for. Does it normally take this long?

I would think you can discontinue the poop cocktail now. It has done it's job. Boy, you do have a dilemma. Keep us posted.

Why don't you stop the jellow too and let her be for a couple of days and see what happens. Usually things are back to normal by now. Give her system a chance to clear out.

Me again. :) I would keep giving her probiotics though.

I stopped the Jello 2 days ago. The poop cocktail I will stop.
I did notice improvement on day 2 of the cocktail and I was so hopeful but then it went back to normal runny. At least now the poop will not come squirting out of her and one needs a rain coat to stand near her!

I was told to try Kaopectate and charcoal mixed.
Someone also said to try cayenne pepper and hot water and syringe it into her.

So to my many helpful friends out there on this message board anyone else have any idea what may be the problem.

Or do you think she is too far gone and the damage has been done that nothing will help her and I should stop waisting time and money and leave her be.
I haven't tried any antibiotics yet but I wonder if this is caused by something that would react to them.

I keep asking myself and (anyone else who will listen) how can an animal have this problem and yet still grow, she currently stands at 14.3hh-15hh

would she not be stunted in growth.

I did read in the MERCK manual that tapes can/will cause ulcers, giarida is pretty much endemic in grazing animals when you have geese or other super pooper type birds around. Usually their immune system keeps it at a manageable level and its sub-clinical but she has been really stressed on top of any parisite load. The other antibiotics or wormers don't cover it, panicur in 3x the dose will only slow it down, thus the metrodiazole, usually works for "garbage gut" with no bad side affects at proper dosage.

Has there been any liver or kidney tests done?

I know in dogs, when there is constant diarrhea, they usually run liver and kidney tests.
