Foal has trouble standing on occasion

I've seen her do this a few times - not every day, by any means - but it does have me concerned. She's a week shy of two months old. She'll pull herself up into a "sitting" position from lying down but then be unable to get her hind end under her. At that point, she either continues struggling to stand (sometimes spinning in a circle on her rump) or lies back down.

Has anyone seen this before? Is it something to be very worried about?

Yikes. Could that be Wobbler's? I would be VERY concerned.

 Get a camcorder, get this on tape, and take it to the vet ASAP. She needs to be checked out thoroughly.

Yes I too would be very concerned. I agree you should have her assessed by a vet asap. Good Luck to you.

I don't know if its exactly the same scenario as my foal, but he had trouble standing as well. He would struggle so much he wore pressure bandages on his hocks to cover the extremely deep wounds he created on them. It turned out to be a broken pelvis from the birthing process. He eventually healed but couldn't hold up to race training. When they are still little like that it is possible to xray the pelvis I believe.

Has she done this from birth? It could be she's so painful from stifle OCD, or some other source, that she just can't bring herself to pull through it from time to time. Does she move alright other then the rising problem?
