mushrooms

Postby habitat » Sun Jul 29, 2007 4:45 pm

In the paper today there was an article about trainers feeding race horses mushrooms for a host of reasons. Tiago, Street Sense were a couple of horses whose trainers feed mushrooms. The article didnt really mention what kind of mushrooms were being fed and in what quantities.

I was wondering if anyone was familiar with the practice of feeding mushrooms to horses?

Thanks

Tucumcari,

Thanks for the link. Different than what I expected, but enlightening. The article actually left me with the impression (right or wrong) that the horses were being fed whole mushrooms as opposed to a mushroom powder supplement. Something I'll continue to dig into.

Thanks again.

It is powder... the mushroom matrix... They gave us a bunch of samples, but the horses that supposedly would benefit from it found it not to be terribly palatable. So I tossed it.
In the east they seem to have a different type of mushroom supplement and as soon as we recieve it or even know where it is coming from I'll post a link...
