Rear End

What are your suggestions in building up the rear end (rump) of a horse. He needs a little more power back there....

Any suggestions or comments?????

The stock breed folks use a lot of backing up to build the muscles in the hindquarters.

Trot, trot, trot! A horse uses his hind end significantly more at the trot than the canter ot slow gallop. Ground poles help if your horse is well broke and sensible, place them far enough apart that he has to reach under himself.

I couldn't agree with you more Amanda! Trot trot trot and trot some more. Be sure your footing is ideal...not to hard and not too deep...deep footing cant be very hard on a horse...especially one who is young and not well adjusted yet.

Thanks for all the info. I will certainly recommend this to his excercise diet.
