You can go back to check the thread, but after all we went thru with this lovely little lass, I am in complete and utter shock to tell you that after all the tests, meds, supplements, tooth fairies, U/S's, blood tests, etc., we had her looking SO good. She was dappled and fat and happy, the queen of her "herd" of 2 other youngsters and...
Thursday morning when I went out to feed, I found her laying dead in the far side of her paddock.
Preliminary autopsy report: lacerated spleen, gross hemo-abdomen.
Somebody kicked her in the middle of the night, and we didn't know. She laid down and bled to death. She didn't struggle. My vet says it would have happened in 2-3 minutes, but it doesn't matter how long, or why it happened in the middle of the night, or that a leather halter w/her name on it hangs by itself on the corner of the director's chair in my barn, does it?
She's just gone...and so is a little piece of me....
