TX, LA - Looking for alfalfa shipments

Postby BELLARINA » Fri Mar 28, 2008 7:02 am

Does anyone order hay of alfalfa from out of state? I want to buy alfalfa by the ton instead of at the feed store, their prices are so high.
I hope to find someone who can deliver medium amounts of alfalfa, however I do not need a whole tractor trailer load at once. Does any here know of a company who can help me or would someone or 3 or 4 be willing to divide up a trailer load of alfalfa with me? It can be bought for about $120.-$150. a ton and I have a huge hay trailer where I can meet someone.

I found someone w/ alfalfa who will deliver small loads of about 50-100 bales. They come from St. Louis and deliver in the Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas.

Bellarina,

Can you share the price per bail? I know someone who may be interested if the quality is good. Our local feed stores do not always have good quality alfalfa.

Thanks!

This guy is coming in June w/ like 280 bales. He will need to sale the entire trailer and prefers a larger farm to have monthly service of A+ alfalfa, tested, top quality, with out the middle man mark up. He can deliver monthly or bi-monthly, and has alfalfa/orchard mix as well.
He says his alfalfa is like "green gold", and bales are $10.00 for 55-60 lbs.
I can get his number for you if you would like, he just ask that someone do regular monthly business that he can count on and buy the trailer of about 280 bales. He does stand behind his alalfa and guarentee it!

I'd be interested in buying some. The horses love that alfalfa/orchard grass mix. We used to bring it out of canada when the rate exchange/fuel prices were in our favor.

Have you contacted Donny Bush in Folsom? He has some really pretty hay.

I don't know of him.
I can get the mans number for you, he wants someone to buy the entire trailer like once a month. I think it is 280 bales. He has several kinds to choose from.
I went to buy feed and their alfalfa is now $14.50, so this guy who is only 10.00 is sounding good and he says it is leafy, "green gold". My feed store sells it and it has mostly stems.

Donny Bush- Brumfield Feeds- located off Green Valley road. Phone#985 966-9019 He also has nice straw for foaling at a fair price. His hay was pretty pricey last time I checked, but they are really big bales- he sells feed to some of the top name trainers at the Fairgrounds as well.
I just found out my feed mill is shutting down, so we must find a new feed source that is affordable (key words) our grain went up 30% last year.
