OK, My new stallion arrived almost 2 wks ago and he's a little ribby and underweight than I'd like him to be so my new project is to get some weight on him....
I plan on getting my vet out here to do the once over on him, he's currently being fed Agway's Senior feed and free choice hay. what does everyone use to get weight on their horses, especially stallions??

I haven't had to fatten a stallion, but I did an elderly mare. After 2 years of trying EVERYTHING with little to no effect, what finally worked was simply switching her hay.....to straight alfalfa. She has positively bloomed. So now, she gets 1 scoop of Purina senior feed morning and evening with about 3/4 coffee cup of corn oil over it, plus a coffee cup of Calf Manna and 2 coffee cups of racehorse oats. She no longer needs the corn oil, but it makes her soft and shiny, so we keep giving it. There is also free choice access to a mineral block. Good luck with your boy!

I use triple crown rice bran, and mollasses free beet pulp shreds, I add some water to it, and of course alfalfa hay..
