Bandaging

Postby cewright » Wed Jul 23, 2008 12:07 pm

I just received my latest issue of Equus (August 2008, #371). On page 20-21 they show how to apply a standing wrap. The wrap is applied the opposite of how I was taught, starting the wrap at the bottom and pulling the tendon to the outside of the body. The vet is quoted as saying it makes no difference whether you start at the top or the bottom or whether you wrap clockwise or counterclockwise.

Comments?

Thanks

Chuck

It doesn't matter which way you wrap the leg, as long as you don't do it super tight. I always hold the back of the tendon when wrapping.

I also start wrapping in the middle, go down and then back up again. It ends at the top.
All men are equal on the turf - or under it.

Where you start, top or bottom, I think, doesn't matter all that much. The most important thing is the right tension, not too tight and not too loose - so the wraps don't look like underpants down around the ankles in the morning.

Don't you LOVE Equus?

Equus is the best! I haven't been able to bring myself to throw any of my magazines out. It really helps that they have an index at the end of the year :) It's difficult though, when your closets are no longer big enough to store them all, lol.
