What is the best vaccine anti reaction medication??

Epi is the only medicine that works quickly enough to stop an anaphylactic reaction. Dex is ok for swelling and tenderness but so is bute or banamine with less risk of founder.

Thanks Laurierace, I did not know Dexamethasone presented a risk of founder..

What kind of Epinephrine doses do you use or recommend.. I guess it depemds on the horse/foal and weight but do you have any guidelines to offer?

Thankfully my only experience with epi has been the pre-loaded syringes on the ambulance as I am a volunteer EMT. Your vet would have to answer that question for you. Also the founder risk from dex is small unless the horse already has a problem with his cortizone levels like with a cushings horse but it does exist. I avoid it in favor of a different anti inflammatory unless I specifically need it for hives.
