Hello
I am concerned for my 4 month old filly. She has a shaggy coat, thick. Has gotten rid of the baby coat. and her belly is bloated. I started her Ivermectine/ Strongid routine
June 29th Ivermectin
July 29th Strongid
and Sept 9th Ivermetin
But she is still bloating.
It is cold at nights, in the 30's here, What should I do?

Your next move might be Quest Plus. Sounds like the parasites are getting the bigger foothold there.

Be carfeful with the Ivermectin as she will colic if you kill too may worms all at once.
My vet recommended we give ours 1/2 tube of safe guard every day for about a week before we hit them with Ivermectin..

I would wait. That is plenty of wormer in her system. Is she weaned or still on mom? I would look into giving her a little vitamin/mineral boost. Is she on any vitamins/minerals now?? You might put her on some probiotics too.

Be very careful not to give too much Quest. It's far more sensitive to overdosing than other wormers.

I think Safe Guard and panacur are the same thing, and both actually help with ulcers in foals.. We give a couple of tubes of safe guard over a week and then, if fecal samples don't show too many eggs we give them a dose of Ivermectiun to get what the safe guard misses; i.e., it's not as effective as Ivermectium but hopefully to get rid of enough of the worms so the foal soes not colic.
I'd never give Quest to a weanling or a preghnant mare.

OKay she is off mom since the 10th. She seperated herself more than 3 months after birth. We have sections of half acre for the horses to roam. She was ready- no hollering or screaming.
Shes on Alfalfa because of the cold right now. It has about 20 % grass. I am going to take a photo now of her, so that all of you can tell me what you think. Let see I will also get a list of the vitamins that she eats- but the problem is that she is SOO finicky. She wont certain grain, she likes our older horse's Senior, wont eat fruit ( apples) or carrots. The other s are doing well, no worms and no ribs... lets see here what can I provide?
Im nervous about overdosing and my vet hasnt called in two days.

She right now is on a free choice called NATURES ESSENTIALS by Purina. She wont eat the grain though.
What do you think?

She really doesn't look that bad. She has what I would call a "hay" belly on her. You can give Probios which is a paste for of probiotic. If you fed grain first, not give her hay for an hour or so, maybe she would be hungry enough to eat the grain. I have an orphan who at six weeks was eating grain with mom. Mom died and she wouldn't eat grain at all for a week or two, then she finally started eating it after I held back the hay for a little bit in the morning.

Her hair has some shine, so she doesn't look as bad as I expected from your description.
She would have free choice alfalfa, and a grain formulated for weanlings if she was mine.

Sorry TIz,
The three that are in the pasture now have a half ton bale of alafalfa to eat whenever as far as grain-- how do I get her to eat it and which grain?
Kinda hard when she wont eat it.

She kinda looks like a baby should. Thjey do go through awkward stages. I dunno if I'd worm again just yet. you might do a fecal if you are really concerned.
